VISIT DALLAS CYCLING TEAM
The 2015 Visit Dallas Cycling Team operates under FCS Team Inc. 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization comprised of U.S. and International female racers competing at State, National, and International levels. Racers compete in the road cycling discipline and to a limited extent in cyclocross and track.
The team has members who have traveled extensively racing both domestic and internationally, winning World, State and National titles and awards. The team is a registered USA Cycling Federation (USAC) Domestic Elite Team.
Affiliated with the team and a backbone to FCS is a recreational club of approximately 80 members which sponsors group rides and clinics for all skill and fitness levels to help promote cycling within the community. The club also promotes or participates in cycling events each year which benefits chosen charities. Children’s Medical is a primary charity for FCS in conjunction with the Children’s Red Balloon Ride & Run, which attracts in excess of 20,000each year.
In recent years, cycling has become increasingly popular among the American public:
- Bicycling is the second most popular outdoor activity in the U.S. (Outdoor Foundation, 2010).
- the U.S. bicycle industry sold $6 billion in bicycles and equipment in 2011.
- More than three times as many new bicycles are sold in the U.S. each year than cars.
- Road racing, BMX, mountain biking and track cycling are all included in the 2012 Olympic Games as medal events.
Cycling, as a recreational sport, promotes a healthy lifestyle, is environmentally friendly, exciting, and most importantly, it is fun. Team racing exemplifies dedication, cooperation, and competitive spirit.
