I started racing bikes shortly after moving to Portland in 2010, and found cycling was the right fight for me. I struck gold with my first team and was taught strategy and team tactics for the very beginning. I was blown away by the dynamics of team racing and was hooked, there was no turning back for me. Quickly climbing the local ranks I tried my first pro race in2011 at the Mount Hood Cycling Classic, as a newly christened Cat 2 and finished 15th. After some misfortunes in 2012, I qualified for the Nature Valley Pro Chase Team in 2013 and snagged the top amateur jersey with a hard fought battle on the final day. In 2014, I was able to guest ride for some of the best US based teams including; Specialized Lulumeon, Colivita and FCS Cycling, where I proved myself a dedicated worker and helped these teams secure top GC finished at numerous NRC races. As well as racing, I have several other projects that I love to work on. Currently I am working on Pay Attention Tees, where we are printing shirts with part of the proceeds going to some good causes. Some of these special runs have 100% of the proceeds going to cycling related projects. On another front I was the visionary behind Presented by Let’s Race Bikes, a community funded professional cycling project during the Spring and Summer of 2014. This allowed me to partner with a local non-profit and businesses to execute a fundraising campaign, where the majority of the funding came from a cycling kit and socks, which I was key in designing. This project slightly exceeded our goal and is the start of grassroots support for women’s cycling in the Pacific Northwest. While in college I played club Rugby and ran long distance, completing my first and only marathon, winter in Fargo, North Dakota. On the academic side of things, I was in Architecture school and was a collaborated on The Clean Hub, a project for FEMA and disaster relief. We presented our project at Twin Cities Solutions. Additionally, I was the lead of a team that worked with the local Twin Cities Paper Shanty – Art Shanty community to design and construct a paper tube building at Friend.
Other interests include origami, great food, the kind you grow and make yourself, pottery, screen printing, and travel among other things. I have been a bike commuter for about a decade and have set up a company bicycle program at Danner.
